Position Overview:Mental Health Workers operating in an Apartment Based Supportive Services capacity provide direct support professional services and independent living skills training to the individuals we serve in an apartment style setting. Our clients include those with a severe mental illness (SMI) health diagnosis and or traumatic brain injury (TBI) disability.This role reports to the Program Manager and has no direct reports.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support individuals in independent living skills through 1:1 service.
- Support individuals in mental health management through identifying coping skills practicing coping skills and alternative methods.
- Teach and model community integration skills such as: self-managing medications managing personal finances appropriate interpersonal interactions managing the public transportation system completing the necessary tasks to maintain a home and accessing community resources.
- Interacts informally with individuals to facilitate socialization and appropriate behavior.
- Participates in scheduled and spontaneous recreational events.
- Teaches healthy living habits and develops the accompanying skills.
Required Qualification and Experience:
- High school or GED
- Experience working with adults and/or children with mental health illness and/or experience working in fast paced environment and/or in client facing roles
- Must pass the required background check and remain eligible to provide services as defined by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
- Must pass the screening required by Federal Human Services Office of Inspector General to assure that person has not been excluded from working in the Health Care Programs which receive federal funding.
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle and maintain a valid drivers license and insurance
Preferred Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in human services Psychology Social Work Sociology or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with persons diagnosed with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI).

Compensation:$19 per hour
Type:Part-Time
Shifts:
- Hyacinth: Thursday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM
- Hyacinth: Tuesday through Thursday 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM; Friday 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM
- Griggs/Snelling: Saturday 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Location:Dakota/Ramsey County
Physical & Mental Requirements:
Employees in this role must be able to:
- Walk stand sit bend climb stairs use a ladder and perform crisis prevention/intervention techniques
- Use hands for writing typing data entry and medication dispensing
- Lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally exert physical effort during duties
- Maintain vision and hearing necessary for reading charts operating office equipment using a computer and driving a vehicle
