Job Summary

Part Time Early Childhood Float Teacher for Sprouts Program - 2026/2027

Sprouts Burlington Childcare is a child care center for Burlington Public Schools faculty and staff housed at the Francis Wyman Elementary School. Sprouts runs on the teachers calendar and offers a nurturing learning environment for children ages 3 months through 5 years.

The program is seeking a warm caring and dependable part-time mid-day hours Teacher to provide classroom support for our infant toddler and preschool-aged are looking for someone who truly enjoys working with young children and wants to be part of a caring and supportive classroom community. The ideal candidate is dependable flexible nurturing and willing to jump in wherever needed to support the children and teaching team.


This is an interactive position focused on supporting the classroom teacher engaging children in developmentally appropriate activities supervising children and helping to create a safe nurturing and positive learning environment.


Candidates who meet Massachusetts EEC Teacher qualifications are strongly preferred.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide caring attentive and engaging support to infants toddlers and preschool-aged children.
  • Assist the classroom teacher with daily routines activities transitions and classroom management.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate play learning experiences and social activities.
  • Support childrens social emotional physical and cognitive development.
  • Supervise children at all times and help ensure a safe and healthy classroom environment.
  • Assist with daily care routines including meals/snacks toileting diapering handwashing and other age-
    appropriate needs as required.
  • Encourage positive social skills such as sharing kindness cooperation empathy and respect.
  • Assist with implementing curriculum activities and lesson plans.
  • Provide individual attention and support to children based on their developmental needs.
  • Support indoor and outdoor play and other classroom activities.
  • Communicate positively and professionally with classroom staff and families.
  • Help maintain the classroom and play areas according to EEC standards for cleanliness organization and
    hygiene.
  • Prepare and clean up classroom materials and activities.
  • Follow all program policies health and safety procedures and Massachusetts EEC regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to provide a warm consistent and engaging experience for every
    child.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Massachusetts EEC Teacher-qualified candidates strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with young children preferably infants toddlers preschoolers or elementary-aged children.
  • Warm patient nurturing and dependable.
  • Enjoys working with young children and creating engaging learning experiences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a classroom team.
  • Ability to safely lift and care for young children as needed.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe clean and supportive environment for children.

WORK SCHEDULE BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION:

This is a part time school year position up to 19 hours per rate is $20.00 per hour.
