This posting is for a part-time unclassified in-person on-site instructor position for our Bossier campus with periodic travel to our Natchitoches and Many Campuses.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid current certification as a Certified Third-Party CDL Examiner recognized by the State of Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) required.
Minimum of three to five (35) years of commercial driving operations experience holding an active unblemished Class A CDL required.
Clean driving record (MVR) and ability to pass all state/federal background checks and DOT drug screenings required.
Possession of a valid Louisiana drivers license and a reliable means of transportation to accommodate mandatory multi-campus travel (Bossier City Many and Natchitoches) required.
One (1) year of computer experience with data entry electronic reporting platforms or regulatory document maintenance required.
Demonstrated knowledge of FMCSA Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations and state compliance frameworks required.
Prior experience evaluating or instructing students within an LCTCS technical college setting preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see read talk hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of field-testing equipment such as but not limited to electronic scoring tablets commercial motor vehicles safety trailers and office equipment such as office computer copier and phone.
Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to fifty (50) pounds; often lifting or carrying up to twenty-five (25) pounds (such as adjusting commercial vehicle parts safety barriers or landing gear).
Must be capable of standing and walking on outdoor driving yards for 70% or more of time with occasional sitting.
Extended periods of sitting and concentration are required to accommodate travel between the regional training locations in Bossier City Many and Natchitoches.

Job Specification

This position is responsible for administering official Class A and Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) road and skills tests delivering classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction and serving as the primary program advisor on state and federal testing policy compliance and procedural updates. The position is primarily located at the Bossier City campus but requires regular travel to program sites in Many and Natchitoches. All duties are executed in strict accordance with the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory standards.

Job Duties and Other Information

Responsible for conducting the three standard segments of the state CDL practical exam: the Pre-Trip Inspection Basic Control Skills (yard maneuvers) and the On-Road Driving test.
Evaluate and score student performance impartially using standardized state scoring rubrics and electronic tablet platforms provided by governing oversight bureaus.
Maintain strict separation of duties ensuring zero testing or scoring of candidates who received direct personal behind-the-wheel instruction from the examiner.
Deliver targeted instructional modules training students in safe vehicle operation federal regulations and proper pre-trip inspection techniques when not acting in an active examiner capacity.
Serve as the programs subject matter expert and policy advisor continually tracking updates to FMCSA DOT and Louisiana OMV regulations to advise administration on necessary program and curriculum modifications.
Author update and manage the campus CDL Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) manual to ensure internal testing policies remain perfectly aligned with state audit benchmarks.
Coordinate map and routinely review state-approved road routes across all regional instruction locations (Bossier City Many and Natchitoches) to ensure compliance with OMV test site benchmarks.
Inspect and supervise the designated testing ranges to ensure safety boundaries clear lanes and proper high-visibility apparel are maintained during live testing and instruction.
Verify student testing prerequisites prior to allocating test slots including checking for valid medical cards passed Department of Transportation drug screenings and active Commercial Learners Permits (CLPs).
Execute accurate and immediate data entry to upload testing records into state systems (PWS) and federal databases (CSTIMS) upon test completion.
Manage confidential student testing and training portfolios maintaining physical and digital compliance files in accordance with the Louisiana state records retention schedule for audit readiness.
Evaluate data and feedback with CDL instructional staff regarding collective student performance trends to help refine instructional focus.
Maintain precise records of hours worked and regional travel logs ensuring schedule compliance stays strictly capped within the mandated unclassified part-time limit of 20 hours per week.
