Job Summary
Norfolk Technical Center Adult Apprenticeship School is seeking a qualified and experienced electrical instructor to provide evening instruction for adult apprenticeship students. The instructor will deliver related technical instruction aligned with state-approved apprenticeship standards and support adult learners in developing the professional knowledge and skills necessary for success in their chosen field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide engaging effective instruction to adult apprenticeship students in accordance with approved curriculum and apprenticeship standards.
- Develop lesson plans instructional materials and assessments that align with course objectives.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance grades and student progress.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with students administrators and apprenticeship partners.
- Create and maintain a safe respectful and inclusive learning environment.
- Comply with all Norfolk Technical Center policies and Virginia apprenticeship requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Current valid Professional Masters Licensein the applicable trade or field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experienceworking in the profession.
- Demonstrated subject-matter expertise and ability to instruct adult learners.
- Strong communication organization and classroom management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching training or instructional experience in adult education or apprenticeship programs.
- Familiarity with Virginia registered apprenticeship standards and requirements.
Work Schedule
- Evenings Only
- Mon/Wed 6 PM 9 PM or Tue/Thurs 6 PM-9 PM
- Additional preparation or administrative duties may be required outside of scheduled class time.
