Job Duties:

• Performs corrective maintenance and repairs of park structures including plumbing changing breakers lighting cleaning air vents etc.
• Maintains the park grounds such as mowing weed eating blowing litter pickup etc.
• Operates vehicles utility vehicles mowers weed eaters blowers tractors pressure washers etc.
• Repair bridges walkways; paint and stain park structures; clear trails; maintain grills and fire rings etc.
• Ensure cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the buildings on site such as cabins group camps lodges bathhouses meeting rooms etc. Duties would include but not limited to disinfecting changing linens cleaning bathrooms mopping sweeping dusting etc.
• Perform any and all custodial duties necessary to maintain clean and sanitary conditions.
• Removes trash and prepares dirty laundry for pickup.
• Cleans & picks up litter/trash from bathhouses campground areas and day use areas.
• Assists customers with questions and concerns.
• Provide park and local community information to customers.

Location:Palmetto Island State Park in Abbeville LA
Appointment Type:Probational Promotion or Detail to Special Duty
Career Progression:This position may be filled as a Park Technician A B or part of a Career Progression Group vacancies may be filled based on the qualifications of the selected applicant. Please refer to the Class Specifications page for specific information of salary ranges minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level.
Work Schedule:State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week which can include holidays and/or weekends as needed to ensure coverage at the park.
Travel:Position requires driving around the park as part of the daily shift. Travel may be required to other state parks to assist in staffing or events as needed. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.
Compensation: Compensation offered will be dependent on level of experience and certification so please be sure to include all education and work experience for consideration.
