The staff use a culturally competent person centered approach to help individuals and their families develop skills and resources to improve functioning to instill hope and to strengthen resiliency. Our programs work closely with community partners to address health disparities in our neighborhoods while also celebrating the strengths and resilience of our communities. The successful candidate will provide Case Management and Advocacy services for caregivers of children and adolescents and their families. The Family Peer Advocate will help plan access and coordinate services for children and their responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide advocacy through outreach with providers across the child serving systemWork to raise awareness reduce stigma and engage families in in weekly in staff to identify formal services and informal resources for families experiencing social-emotional behavioral or mental health families with identifying needs strengths and family progress to determine goals with care providers and community supports to help families meet their goalsWork closely with an interdisciplinary team of providersDevelop a resource directory to identify formal services and informal services for families with mental health challenges/or at risk of experiencing mental health outreach/information sessions/workshops with providers across the child serving an electronic database document demographic data on all individuals seen document and track familys goals and all services provided to parent/caregiver; participates in quality improvement additional duties COMPETENCIES for the position include:Must have lived experience with the child welfare system as a REQUIRED:High school diploma or REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:The Jewish Board is currently looking for talented individuals of all cultures religions races and gender expressions with the following qualifications:Lived experience in parenting a child or adolescent with a serious emotional disturbance and/or lived experience of mental health licensed or Provisional License as a Family Peer AdvocateAbility to work with diverse social cultural economic groupsBackground in advocating mental health and/or in the educational systemBilingual in Russian/Spanish/Urdu/Chinese is a strong plusCOMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:Experience working with electronic medical records and proficient with use of Microsoft OfficeVISUAL AND MANUAL DEXIERITY: The candidate should be able to read paper and electronic documents and perform significant data entry into various computer ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORTOffice based work environment in busy community based mental health clinicAbility to work evenings as you join us youll have these great benefits:Generous vacation time in addition to paid agency holidays and 15 sick daysAffordable and high-quality medical/dental/vision plansTuition assistance and educational loan forgivenessFree continuing education opportunities403(b) retirement benefits and a pensionFlexible spending accounts for health and transportation24/7 Accessible Employee Assistance ProgramLife and disability insuranceDiversity equity and inclusion working groups that are available for you to join including Confronting Structural Racism (COR) Coalition Against Anti-Semitism (CAAS) and the LGBTQ Steering CommitteeWho we are:The Jewish Board delivers innovative high-quality and compassionate mental health and social services to over 45000 New Yorkers each year.
