Job Summary

Summary

Stinson LLP is seeking an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join our Minneapolis office. This position works directly with attorneys and clients on complex commercial real estate transactions throughout Minnesota and across the United States including acquisitions dispositions leasing financing development title analysis due diligence corporate matters and closings.

The ideal candidate is highly organized proactive detail-oriented and enjoys managing multiple complex transactions in a collaborative law firm environment while providing exceptional client service. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with attorneys clients lenders title companies surveyors governmental agencies and other professionals on a wide variety of commercial real estate matters.

Required Education & Experience

  • Completion of either of the following:
  • Bachelors degree OR (a) Associate of Arts degree and not less than one year of in-house training as a Paralegal Assistant or Paralegal Intern or (b) one to five years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney or Senior Paralegal demonstrating a superior command of the skills necessary to be a Paralegal;
  • AND in addition to (a) or (b) Completion of an educational program for Paralegals that has been approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) or offered by an accredited institution which is in substantial compliance with ABA guidelines for the approval of Paralegal programs is preferred.
  • Five or more years of commercial real estate paralegal experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial real estate transactions title matters and closing procedures.
  • Excellent organizational analytical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with AI Microsoft Office and online legal title and public records research tools.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Experience in a law firm title insurance company or sophisticated in-house real estate legal department preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Paralegal (75%)
    • Transaction Management
    • Assist attorneys with all aspects of commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions dispositions leasing financing and development.
    • Manage multiple transactions simultaneously from initial due diligence through closing and post-closing matters.
    • Prepare and maintain transaction checklists closing schedules and deadline memoranda.
    • Coordinate transaction closings and organize all closing documents and deliverables.
    • Review settlement statements and closing documentation for accuracy.
    • Title and Due Diligence
    • Review title commitments title policies surveys zoning reports tax records and other due diligence materials
    • Analyze legal descriptions to identify boundary issues easements encroachments and other matters affecting title.
    • Prepare title objection letters and assist attorneys in resolving title and survey issues.
    • Conduct title lien UCC entity and public records searches in Minnesota and other jurisdictions.
    • Research ownership legal descriptions title history and other real estate matters using public records and online resources.
    • Apply knowledge of Minnesota Title Standards and applicable recording requirements in reviewing and clearing title.
    • Document Preparation
    • Prepare deeds easements leases purchase agreements closing documents loan documents organizational consents and other transaction documents.
    • Prepare conveyance documents in accordance with applicable state law.
    • Assist with preparation and organization of closing binders and post-closing documentation
    • Minnesota Real Estate Practice
    • Assist with quiet title actions initial title registration proceedings proceedings subsequent and other Minnesota-specific title matters.
    • Prepare pleadings and supporting documentation for title clearance proceedings.
    • Monitor filing deadlines and coordinate service hearings and related procedural requirements.
    • Client Service and Project Management
    • Serve as a primary point of contact with clients lenders title companies surveyors governmental agencies and opposing counsel regarding transaction logistics.
    • Maintain regular communication with attorneys and clients regarding transaction status deadlines and outstanding items.
    • Anticipate attorney and client needs and proactively identify issues requiring attention.
    • Coordinate effectively with Legal Administrative Assistants Case Clerks and other support personnel to ensure timely completion of projects.
    • Ensure all work product is accurate organized and completed in a timely and professional manner.
  • General and Administrative (25%)
    • Time entry scanning e-mailing etc.
    • Assist in Firm marketing for practice area.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Billable Expectations

  • Meet billable hour requirement for paralegals of 1550 per year.

    The salary range for this role is $75000 $92000. The salary range for this position is based on a variety of factors including experience skills qualifications and location. The range is provided as an initial approximation at the time of posting and may vary based on the individuals unique qualifications and experience.
