Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Paralegal - Decree Specialist to join our team in Cincinnati OH. The ideal candidate will analyze legal documents for compliance with court procedures provide support to self-represented persons and collaborate closely with the Staff Attorney to ensure accuracy and completeness of decrees and related legal orders prior to judicial review.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze legal documents including pleadings filings decrees and agreed orders to ensure compliance with court procedures processes and requirements.
  • Provide assistance and support to self-represented litigants by reviewing submitted documents and answering inquiries electronically in person and by phone.
  • Collaborate with the Staff Attorney to review all decrees shared parenting plans parenting orders associated orders agreed entries Qualified Domestic Relations Orders Divisions of Property Orders and related documents for accuracy before submission to judicial officers.
  • Ensure all required statutory language and references are included in decrees presented for signature.
  • Identify and address issues at the time of filing to prevent complications or errors that could lead to further litigation.
  • Contact attorneys and litigants to request corrections or additional information as needed.
  • Update Case Management System (CMS) and Live Lists to reflect all case activity including case tracking running record and support order screen updates.
  • Prepare and maintain checklists of items to be addressed in Separation Agreements and Agreed Entries.
  • Forward new and modified case information to the Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) CE unit for creation and modification of SETS support accounts.
  • Process dismissals generated by Judges and Magistrates and prepare related mailings and correspondence.
  • Provide clear concise information and explanations about court processes rules official documents and forms to attorneys litigants and the public.
  • Direct self-represented litigants and members of the public to appropriate court offices or resources for additional assistance or legal advice.
  • Work collaboratively with all court departments to support the directives of the Judges and Court Administration.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience as a Paralegal
  • Strong knowledge of court procedures legal terminology and statutory requirements related to family law decrees and orders.
  • Excellent analytical skills to review and ensure accuracy of legal documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with attorneys litigants and court personnel both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to provide clear guidance and support to self-represented litigants.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively with Staff Attorneys and other court departments.
