The Lincoln Public Schools Board of Education believes that higher education is a critical component for LPS classified employees because of the diverse and growing needs of the LPS student population. This program is to allow classified staff the opportunity to earn a special education endorsement in either K-6 or 7-12. The district in conjunction with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is excited to partner with classified staff members who have a minimum of 60 college credit hours as they continue their education and professional pursuits.
Coursework has been outlined by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The apprenticeship will begin during the spring semester of 2027 and continue through June of 2028. You will be hired into a para position during your apprenticeship.
You will start the process by filling out this addition to the application the following items are required to complete the application process:
- Two references (one must be a building administrator e.g. principal or special education coordinator) - list these references on the Reference page of the application.
- Attach an unofficial or official copy of your transcript reflecting your 60 hours from an accredited college or university.
- Attach the following document under the Attachments page of the application which answers the following questions:
- Why do you aspire to be in this apprenticeship
- Who is your model educator and why
The deadline to submit an application is Saturday September 26th at 12:00 am.
