JOB OVERVIEW

The Painter supports airport services operations by preparing painting refinishing and maintaining airport equipment facility surfaces and related assets. This role performs surface preparation coating application touch-ups corrosion prevention and general finish repairs while following all safety security environmental and airport operational requirements.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to beall-inclusiveand other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning sanding scraping masking grinding or applying primer.

  • Apply paint coatings sealants and finishes using brushes rollers or spray equipment.

  • Perform touch-up painting rust removal corrosion control and finish repairs on airport equipment facility areas and related assets.

  • Mix and apply paints and coatings according to specifications safety requirements and company standards.

  • Inspect completed work for quality coverage and compliance with work orders.

  • Maintain painting tools equipment materials and work areas in a clean and safe condition.

  • Follow all safety PPE chemical handling hazardous material lockout/tagout fall protection and airport security procedures.

  • Document completed work materials used and repair needs.

  • Support general maintenance tasks as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Valid Driver License.

  • Previous commercial painting industrial painting automotive painting facilities maintenance or equipment refinishing experience preferred.

  • Experience with prep grit blast and final paint of heavy machinery required.

  • Required to understand all paint related safety training including Haz-Mat respirator VOC and paint booth operation.

  • Ability to communicate professionally to customers and fellow employees.

  • Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights weekends holidays and overtime based on operational needs.

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with Airport operations a plus.

  • Computer skills specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Possess basic mechanic skills including mechanical electrical pneumatic hydraulic troubleshooting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of a Painter the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces. Ladder work required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems. Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Good hand / eye coordination is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment of a Painter is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts high precarious places outside weather conditions fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals cold and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment.
