Whatyoulldo:
PURPOSE:Manages andfacilitatespatient and procedure flow through thePACUand ensures the provision of high-quality patient care on the dailyPACUscheduleexpeditingprocedures as necessary communicating changes/needs to other the daily assignments of thePACUstaff.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:(include but are not limited to)
Monitors patient flow through thePACUandanticipatestaffing needs.
Assumes responsibility for daily operations of thePACUfor assignedshift.
Complete daily staff assignmentsno later thanone day in advance and post inPACU
Approves staff leaving prior to end of assigned shift after consulting with leadership
Facilitates/expeditesPACUschedule to keep cases on time as much as possible.
Monitors any changes in thePACUschedule e.g. delays starting early. Communicates changes toPACUstaffOR Charge NurseSchedulerandleadership.
Assistsleadership with ancillary auditsprojectionsor other duties as designated
Collaborates with the front office staffand Scheduleronintakeprocess as needed.
Collaborates with the surgeon and PA on missing orders H&P or DME as needed.
Evaluates readiness for patientdischarge andcollaborates with the anesthesiologist in the discharge process.
Reportsand completes the Incident Reports forany potential or actual adverse event asappropriate.
Documents clearly andmaintainsthe patient record.
Maintains pleasant and open communication with patients familiesstaffand physicians.
In addition to Charge Nurse duties on an as needed basis performsduties of PACU nursetocover PTO unexpectedabsencesand other staffing assignments as needed.

KNOWLEDGE:
Familiarity with HIPAApolicies proceduresand other regulatory policies
Medical office procedures policies practices and medical terminology telephoneprotocoland professional etiquette
Understanding ofthe SISmedicalrecordsystems
Qualifications
Who you are:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
EXPERIENCE:Minimumthreeyearsof recentPACUnursing preferred.
Qualifications:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate professionally ( expressive vocabulary that communicates a complete and detailed message avoiding spelling errors employing a respectful tone)
Ability tomaintainenthusiasm while facing a high volume and a large variety of duties
Ability and interest in learning procedures and software functionalities that could improve the effectiveness and efficiency of individual and department efforts

CERTIFICATE / LICENSE: Licensedas a Registered Nurse inConnecticut.
