OTR CDL Driver

Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport steel products to customer locations and return scrap metal and crushed vehicles to the Midlothian facility.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete light preventative maintenance as needed.
- Secure loads including tarping when required by customer specifications or load requirements.
- Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations commercial motor vehicle laws and company safety policies.
- Maneuver trucks and trailers into loading and unloading positions complete drop-and-hook deliveries and report any vehicle defects accidents or safety concerns promptly.
Work Environment
- Frequent driving and extended periods of sitting.
- Regular loading and unloading at customer and company locations.
- Work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Requires operation of commercial tractor-trailers and interaction with customers dispatch and warehouse personnel.
- Position requires adherence to strict safety standards and DOT regulations.
Days and Shift Information
- Full-time position
- Must maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time for all scheduled shifts
- Drivers are expected to complete a minimum of three round trips per week
Qualifications :
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) required.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of Class A commercial driving experience.
- Must be at least 23 years of age.
- Experience with drop-and-hook deliveries preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations vehicle inspections and safe cargo securement practices.
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
- Successfully pass a DOT-required pre-employment physical and drug screening in accordance with 49 CFR Parts 391 and 40.
- No DUI or DWI convictions within the past three years.
- No more than one at-fault accident within the past three years.
