This recruitment will be used to fill three part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) OSU GO Student Peer Advisor for the Office of Global Opportunities at Oregon State University (OSU).

Peer advisors are champions of global learning representing the Office of Global Opportunities (OSU GO) as enthusiastic advocates for education abroad. Through one-on-one peer advising sessions presentations and community events they educate OSU students about the accessibility and transformative benefits of participating in OSU GO-approved programs.

Beyond outreach peer advisors play a crucial role in supporting OSU GOs initiatives by contributing to special projects and assisting with administrative tasks. They are encouraged to harness their unique skills and passions by proposing innovative ways to inspire students and amplify the value of education abroad across campus.

As essential members of the OSU GO team peer advisors ignite curiosity and motivation helping students explore and leverage the diverse opportunities for international experiences.

Position Duties:

• Provide Student Advising and Support: Conduct one-on-one advising sessions guide students through education abroad opportunities and processes and connect them with appropriate resources.
• Communicate and Engage with Stakeholders: Effectively communicate with students parents faculty and the university community through multiple channels to promote understanding of education abroad programs.
• Conduct Outreach and Program Promotion: Represent and promote education abroad programs through presentations classroom visits tabling events marketing initiatives and student engagement activities.
• Manage Student Records and Administrative Processes: Utilize advising and university systems to process applications maintain records and ensure accurate and timely student support.
• Support Strategic Projects and Office Initiatives: Support staff-led projects that advance the offices mission including course pre-articulation educational resource development webpage updates and process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate and Contribute to Team Success
  Participate in team meetings training and professional development while working collaboratively to achieve department goals and continuously enhance knowledge and effectiveness

Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

• High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
• Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
• Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
• Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
• Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered full-time by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services(OIS) and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required Qualifications:

• Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to step-by-step instructions.

• Integrity and confidentiality in handling student applications and documents.

• Engaging communication skills across written public speaking and interpersonal contexts.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and staff members through email Teams and in-person conversations.

• Proficiency or willingness to gain proficiency with Microsoft Office Canvas Terra Dotta Teams Instagram/Social Media Canva and other digital tools.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to serve in the position through the end of the 2027-28 academic year to support continuity in training advising and office projects.

• Ability to effectively articulate the benefits of education abroad.

• Demonstrated understanding of cross-cultural competence gained through lived or international educational experiences.

• Strong campus connections with OSU academic units student life residential life athletics or other organizations.

The average work hours are 10-15 per week.
The starting pay rate is $16.50 per hour with the possibility of raises contingent upon length of service and exemplary performance.
Typical business hours are 9am 5pm.
Occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support student programming and outreach.
Peer Advisors (excluding Ecampus students) will conduct in-person on-campus work at work stations in a shared office area and therefore should expect potential distractions and interruptions.
If physically able employees may be asked to lift or carry event supplies equipment or materials weighing up to 25 pounds to/from outreach events.
If physically able employees will represent OSU GO at fairs or other outreach events which often require being active or standing for 1-3 hours and at times bending and crouching.
This position will typically be performed in-person with remote work approved for specific activities and situations.
