OS Performance Tools Engineer

Job Summary
In this role you will spend your time at the intersection of data systems knowledge and software engineering. Some days that means diving into performance diagnostics to understand why a user interaction felt slow tracing the problem through layers of the system and surfacing a finding that helps another team ship a fix. Other days it means stepping back to ask how that same investigation could be faster more automated or more insightful at scale and then building the tooling or AI-assisted workflow to make it so. You will work closely with engineers across many disciplines systems graphics data and more learning how Apples platforms work end to end and translating that knowledge into tools that make the broader organization more effective. Build next-generation tools to inspect analyze and model performance across Apples platformsnDesign and ship AI-assisted workflows that scale the teams ability to surface and connect performance insightsnTriage real-world performance issues and surface actionable findings to the teams responsible for resolving themnIdentify and execute on opportunities to extend coverage adding new instrumentation automating analysis and closing gaps in our toolingnCollaborate with teams across Apple hardware kernel frontend graphics data analytics and more to ensure tools meet the needs of the engineers who depend on them
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skillsnStrong OS u0026 Systems fundamentalsnProficient in C/ObjC/Swift or similar languagenPrior development experience in Unix Linux macOS or iOSnAptitude to independently learn new technologies prototype and propose software design and solutionsnPassion for product quality and attention to detailnExcellent spoken and written communicationnCS degree or equivalent experience
