Job Summary

Job Title: O.R. Technician (CST)

Location: New York NY
Duration: 13 Weeks Contract with Possible Extension

Schedule
  • Shift: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
  • 30-minute unpaid break included
  • Guaranteed Hours: 37.5/week
Compensation

Local Pay: $2025/week
Travel Pay: $2527.50/week

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to support surgical services in a fast-paced hospital operating room environment. The ideal candidate will have strong operating room experience with cardiac surgical cases and the ability to maintain sterile technique while assisting the surgical team during procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields instruments and supplies
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating surgical instrument and equipment needs
  • Ensure adherence to aseptic and infection control standards throughout procedures
  • Perform surgical scrub duties and support the surgical team during cardiac and other surgical procedures
  • Maintain accurate sponge instrument and needle counts with circulating staff
  • Prepare operating rooms for procedures including setup and equipment checks
  • Assist with patient positioning transfers and room turnover
  • Handle surgical specimens according to established protocols
  • Support operating room efficiency and patient safety initiatives
  • Maintain proper care handling and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons nurses anesthesia staff and other healthcare professionals
Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent OR Technician experience in a hospital setting required
  • Cardiac surgical cases experience required
  • Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing techniques
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operating room environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician/CST training program preferred
Certifications & Licensure
  • Current OR Technician Certification required
  • Current BLS Certification through AHA required
