Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Eye Care: Perform high-quality vision examinations prescribe corrective lenses (glasses and contact lenses) and fit specialty contact lenses as needed.
- Medical Optometry & Disease Management: Diagnosing managing and treating visual anomalies and ocular diseases (such as glaucoma macular degeneration diabetic retinopathy and dry eye syndrome).
- Co-Management of Surgical Patients: Provide critical pre-operative evaluations and comprehensive post-operative care for patients undergoing cataract surgery refractive surgeries (LASIK/PRK) and corneal or glaucoma procedures.
- Emergency Eye Care: Evaluate and manage urgent ocular situations including foreign body removals eye infections and acute vision changes.
- Collaboration & Referrals: Work seamlessly with our team of ophthalmology subspecialists ensuring accurate internal referrals for advanced surgical interventions or specialized medical treatments.
- Patient Education: Clearly communicate exam findings treatment plans and preventative care strategies to patients and their families.
- Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate timely and detailed electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with medical and legal guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited School of Optometry.
- Licensure: Active license (or eligibility to obtain licensure) to practice optometry with therapeutic privileges in the State of New York.
- Skills: Strong clinical judgment excellent diagnostic capabilities and comfort working in a high-volume collaborative medical setting.
- Attributes: Exceptional communication skills a compassionate patient-first bedside manner and a strong work ethic.
- Experience: Experience or residency training in ocular disease surgical co-management or a multi-specialty group practice is highly valued but new graduates with strong clinical skills are welcome to apply.
