Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated hard-working individual to fill anOPSParkAttendantposition at Ruth B. Kirby Gilchrist Blue Springs StatePark. This position is centered on the successful candidate will be required to perform various duties including the following: cabin and facilities cleaningparkmaintenance grounds keepingparkprotection visitor services.

This is a part-time temporary position working 29 hours per selected candidate will be required to work rotating shifts to include evenings weekends and position does not include health benefits or paid will exist for additional training and experience.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Maintenance trades

Resource management techniques

Providing top-notch visitor services through the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and high-quality visitor contact experience

SKILLS IN:

Computer applications such as Microsoft Office

Computer usage to be able to fill in short reports and communicate effectively with internal emails and timesheets

Operating trucks tractors operating mowers standard power and manual tools

ABILITY TO:

Perform cleaning and grounds keeping duties

Perform routine inspections

Identify and investigate problems

Maintain facilities and equipment

Work rotating shifts including nights holidays and weekends

Communicate verbally and in writing

Perform physical labor and janitorial duties

Use power/electrical/gas tools and equipment

Deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful efficient and courteous manner

Maintain good public relations

Prepare and keep accurate reports

Follow verbal and written instructions

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Understand and apply directives policies laws and regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Drivers License

Work rotating shifts including evenings weekends and holidays

Position of Special Trust Requirement:

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422 Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

Pay:

$15/hour

29hrs per week

The park contains a collection of natural springs including a large second-magnitude spring that produces an average of 44 million gallons of water per day. This spring known as Gilchrist Blue has outstanding water clarity and discharges water through a shallow spring run about one-quarter mile to the Santa Fe River.

The most significant ecological habitats include the spring run stream and floodplain communities. The main spring run is renowned for a diversity of wildlife species including turtles fish and invertebrates. Redbreast and spotted sunfish largemouth bass bluegill and channel catfish can be observed in waters with unparalleled visibility.
