The Ophthalmic Assistant is the entry-level position of the Ophthalmic Professionals. Aids the ophthalmologist byobtaining medical information performing preliminary eye function exams and explaining to patients about medicationand/or procedures.Performing the following functions-visual acuity tests such as visual fields keratometry ocular mobilityrefraction imaging administering eye drops assisting with corrective lenses and other the supervision of the ophthalmologist administer medications processing microbiologicalspecimens measurement of intraocular pressure and performing amblyopia treatment. Assesses performsspecialized procedures patient education supporting and communicating with medical staff and recordingresults of routine ophthalmic examination procedures on with ophthalmic surgery procedures. Primary responsibilities include assessment the performanceof specialized procedures patient education supporting and communicating with medical staff andrecording results of routine ophthalmic examination procedures on imaging. Performs simple maintenance on equipment and reports malfunctions. Practicesunder the directions of higher-level personnel until other duties as assignedComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies standards of work and code of conduct.

• High School Diploma / GED General

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

• BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor

CMA CNA COA preferred. Upon Hire PreferredMinimum 2 years experience in medical field. Preferred
