JOB FUNCTION:
Trains to perform the duties of Chief Operator; performs additional duties as assigned; performs general maintenance as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works a shift with a Chief Operator and trains to perform the duties of the Chief Operator classification. (Refer to Chief Operator job description.)
- Stands day watch as assigned. Under this condition performs the following duties; collects diesel engine water samples and add chemicals receives fuel oil and witnesses delivery; cleans oil purifiers and performs greasing duties.
- Performs in relief capacity as Chief Operator when qualified.
- When not standing watch is assigned operational maintenance work at the diesel plant provides assistance to Diesel Maintenance Mechanic and Maintenance Electrician.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean.
- Inspects receives and stores incoming materials and supplies from vendors.
- Maintains watch until relieved.
- Performs janitorial and grounds maintenance as required.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
- Assume an emergency management role as assigned and perform specific assignments or functions as needed in an event of an emergency not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors including shades hues and tints. (for electrician related positions)
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii drivers license. Must meet the standards for driving positions statedin the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
- Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
- Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.
- Must pass the Job Sample Test.
