Job Summary
The Operations Supervisor oversees chemical blending production operations managing a shift team to
deliver safe high-quality results. This hands-on supervisory role combines technical expertise in
chemical formulations with operational excellence ensuring that blending testing and packaging
processes meet strict safety standards and production deadlines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate
strong supervisory leadership skills while maintaining solid knowledge of chemical operations.
This position requires a capable supervisor who translates operational directives into actionable tasks
and processes across production activities. The Operations Supervisor applies operational expertise to
resolve day-to-day challenges establish performance objectives for team members and deliver
measurable impact on shift-level operational targets and production goals.
Key Characteristics
- Operational Excellence & Resource Optimization: Supports production efficiency through effective resource allocation SAP analytics reporting and coordination with team members to meet production targets while controlling costs and maintaining productivity within assigned areas.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Leadership: Ensures adherence to multi-agency regulations (ISO OSHA EPA DOT DHS) while supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions to maintain quality standards and minimize production disruptions.
- Shift Team Leadership & Operational Support: Supervises shift teams through effective performance management and skill development while supporting cross-departmental communication and contributing to smooth daily operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise workforce management including attendance tracking performance evaluations and employee relations for production staff within assigned operational areas
- Ensure compliance with Veolia WTS standards governmental regulations customer specifications and relevant organizational policies and procedures
- Coordinate production resources and scheduling to meet customer commitments while supporting productivity targets and labor cost controls within shift operations
- Support cross-departmental communication to help resolve production interruptions quality deviations and equipment failures
- Coordinate with Corporate Engineering on project execution and vendor/contractor coordination aligned with facility requirements
- Assist with troubleshooting process and material-related production issues through root cause analysis and corrective action implementation to minimize operational impact
- Utilize SAP systems for data entry and reporting to monitor information flow across procurement inventory order management and logistics systems
- Support compliance with employee certification requirements and mandatory training programs
- Maintain awareness of regulatory compliance standards across multiple agencies including ISO OSHA EPA DOT and DHS
- Contribute to employee development and skill-building for production and logistics staff
- Support shift operations and plant performance objectives as assigned
- Perform additional responsibilities as required to support shift operations and overall plant performance objectives
Qualifications :
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Production Operations & SAP Systems Support: Working knowledge of manufacturing operations production scheduling and supply chain logistics; ability to use SAP ERP systems for data entry reporting and monitoring across procurement inventory management order fulfillment and logistics modules to support operational workflows and identify system issues.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance: Understanding of multi-agency regulatory frameworks including ISO standards OSHA safety requirements EPA environmental regulations DOT transportation rules and DHS security protocols; ability to support compliance programs assist with root cause analyses and maintain quality control systems that ensure quality standards and operational integrity.
- Shift Team Supervision & Operational Support: Capability to supervise coach and evaluate production team members while managing performance attendance and addressing workplace concerns; skilled in supporting communication across engineering maintenance quality and logistics departments to help resolve operational challenges and execute assigned tasks.
Position Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum of 5-7 years of manufacturing experience
- Previous experience in a production supervisor or operations supervisory role managing an hourly workforce
Preferred
- Bachelors Degree in Industrial Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Excellent understanding of chemical processing and material handling equipment
- Fundamental understanding of the Risk Management Program for Hazardous Chemicals
- Knowledge of manufacturing policies and regulations established by Veolia WTS as well as government and other customers
- Knowledge of manufacturing management disciplines such as production and inventory control. and standard cost systems
- Strong leadership skills including coaching and communication and demonstrated ability to train and mentor production employees
- Working experience operating in a facility under the OSHA Process Safety Management program or Risk Management Program for Hazardous Chemicals
- Experience with Management of Change processes including P&ID documentation updates
- Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent Quality training
- Experience with enterprise business systems SAP
- Strong interpersonal communication influencing and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively interface with all levels of management
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and assign right prioritization
- Effective risk management skills; knowing when to escalate defining risk mitigation plans and knowing when to invoke them
- Self-starter that works well in a team environment
