Pay Rate Range: $60.00 - 65.00/hr (DOE)
Employment Type: Contract (12 Months Potential Extension)
Schedule: Monday Friday Standard Business Hours (40 hrs/week)
Location: Painted Post NY 14870 (100% Onsite)
Tekberry is looking for a highly analytical and technically advanced Operations Research Scientist to work on-site with our client in Painted Post NY. This is a contract opportunity supporting optimization simulation modeling and operational analytics initiatives within a research and engineering environment.

Position Summary

The Operations Research Scientist will develop and implement mathematical programming simulation and cost models to solve complex operational and engineering challenges. This role works closely with cross-functional engineering manufacturing logistics and business teams to analyze operational data improve processes and support data-driven decision-making through advanced modeling and optimization techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement optimization simulation and cost models using operations research methodologies
  • Design mathematical programming models including:
    • Linear programming
    • Mixed-integer programming
    • Discrete-event simulation
  • Analyze process flows production planning logistics and resource allocation scenarios
  • Collect clean and analyze operational and production data
  • Translate analytical findings into actionable business and engineering recommendations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define business problems and technical requirements
  • Present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support deployment of optimization and simulation tools into production environments
  • Document methodologies models assumptions and results to support team knowledge sharing and maintainability
  • Assist with workflow automation analytics and operational improvement initiatives
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelors degree in:
    • Operations Research
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Applied Mathematics
    • Related quantitative discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of practical experience applying:
    • Operations research
    • Industrial engineering
    • Optimization techniques
  • Experience with optimization solvers such as:
    • CPLEX
    • Gurobi
    • Pyomo GLPK
  • Experience with simulation tools such as:
    • AnyLogic
    • SimPy
  • Strong Python programming experience
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
  • Strong attention to detail and results-oriented mindset
Preferred:
  • Masters degree in a related discipline
  • Experience with:
    • Data preparation
    • Workflow automation
    • Data visualization
  • Exposure to:
    • Manufacturing
    • Supply chain
    • Commercial analytics environments
