Job Title: Operating Room Technician (Surgical Tech)
Location: Syracuse NY
Duration: 13 Weeks
Employment Type: Contract
Schedule: Day/Evening shifts (5x8-hour shifts; mix of 8 and 12-hour shifts)
- Travel Rate: $55 $60/hour ($2200 $2400/week based on experience)
- Local Rate: $43 $46/hour ($1612 $1725/week based on experience)
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Technician to support surgical procedures in a high-acuity acute care environment. The ideal candidate will have strong scrub experience and a background working in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical setting.
- Provide sterile scrub support for a wide range of surgical procedures
- Prepare operating rooms instruments and surgical equipment
- Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during procedures
- Handle surgical instruments efficiently and anticipate surgical team needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Support procedures across multiple specialties including trauma orthopedic general ENT vascular and GYN
- Mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts:
- 11:00 AM 7:30 PM
- 3:00 PM 11:30 PM
- 11:00 AM 11:30 PM
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room experience (within the last 4 years)
- Experience in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center or equivalent large acute care facility
- Strong scrub experience required
- Experience in multiple specialties including:
- General Surgery
- Orthopedics
- Neurosurgery
- Trauma
- Vascular
- ENT
- Bariatric
- GU
- GYN
Certifications:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and patient safety focus
- No First Assist responsibilities (per state regulations)
- First-time travelers must have experience in similar-sized or high-acuity facilities
- Clean professional record (no license suspension or investigation)
- Must pass pre-employment health clearance
- Ability to perform effectively with minimal orientation in an acute care setting
