What this job involves: We are seeking an Operating Engineer to support maintenance and repair operations within a government facilities this role you will operate maintain and repair critical base building systems including HVAC mechanical electrical plumbing and life safety equipment. The position requires strong technical troubleshooting skills the ability to manage multiple priorities coordinate with contractors and respond effectively to facility needs and emergencies. This role plays an important part in supporting safe efficient and reliable facility operations while delivering a high level of service to building occupants and stakeholders.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Safely operate and maintain facility systems in compliance with government regulations and safety standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC electrical plumbing mechanical and life safety systems.
• Monitor building equipment performance record operational data and make adjustments to maintain optimal efficiency.
• Respond to service requests and emergency maintenance situations in a timely and professional manner.
• Conduct facility inspections identify potential hazards and support adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
• Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside contractors to ensure quality and cost expectations are met.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours weekend and holiday support as needed.
• Additional Duties as assigned by Engineering Management

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the electrical trade or HVAC/refrigeration trade or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid U.S. drivers license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work safely using proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Physical ability to walk climb bend kneel lift and perform overhead work regularly.
• Strong troubleshooting problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Universal Technician Certification for CFCs or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
• Experience working with computer-controlled building automation systems.
• Knowledge of thermodynamic electrical and mechanical systems.
• Trade school education in HVAC electrical or a related technical field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience coordinating with outside contractors and service providers.
• Strong customer service communication and teamwork skills.

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications location market conditions and internal considerations.
