We are seeking an experienced Operating Engineer to support the operation maintenance inspection and repair of commercial building systems. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering long-term career growth for a hands-on maintenance professional with experience in HVAC electrical plumbing and general building maintenance.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong troubleshooting abilities excellent customer service skills and a commitment to maintaining safe and efficient facility operations.
Responsibilities
Building Operations & Maintenance
Operate inspect maintain and repair building mechanical HVAC electrical and plumbing systems.
Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections of building equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving HVAC systems electrical systems DDC controls pneumatic controls and other building infrastructure.
Complete general maintenance tasks including:
Painting
Pressure washing
Lighting repairs and ballast replacement (where permitted)
Plumbing repairs
Locksmith work
Water treatment support
Minor carpentry and building repairs
Respond to tenant service requests and facility maintenance needs in a timely manner.
Work Order Management
Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage and document daily work orders.
Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance activities and service requests.
Ensure all assigned work is completed efficiently and to quality standards.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company and site safety procedures and policies.
Support emergency response and on-call activities as required.
Participate in ongoing technical operational and safety training programs.
Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment.
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial building maintenance facilities maintenance HVAC plumbing electrical carpentry or related trades.
Strong troubleshooting and repair experience with commercial building systems.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook Word Excel and Teams.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders up to 30 feet and perform physical maintenance activities including bending kneeling climbing and lifting.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Preferred
Trade school education apprenticeship training military technical experience or college coursework in a related field.
Universal EPA (CFC) Certification.
Candidates willing to obtain Universal EPA Certification within the first year are encouraged to apply.
