Operating Engineer

Founded in 1961 Dignity Health - Arroyo Grande Community Hospital is a 65-bed acute care nonprofit hospital located in Arroyo Grande California. Serving over 90000 patients annually the hospital offers a full complement of services including emergency care and orthopedics. As our Operating Engineer you will independently perform journeyman-level duties responsible for daily operational issues concerning the energy plant hospital and associated equipment/systems.

Every day you will design construct install or maintain building systems and equipment ensuring safety functionality efficiency and occupant comfort. You will also monitor equipment/system problems and recommend solutions for optimal facility performance.

Success in this role requires extensive technical expertise a strong commitment to safety and efficiency excellent problem-solving and autonomous work with high operational standards.

• Takes hourly water temperature readings.
• Conducts water tests every four hours.
• Makes rounds of hospital building at least twice in the shift.
• Checks engineering logs at each nursing station.
• Performs minor repairs as needed.
• Provides assistance to security section when needed.

• Journeyman Status Knowledge and experience in multiple trades
