Indiana University Bloomington ( IUB ) invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty position in the Luddy School of Informatics Computing and Engineering in the field of artificial intelligence for life sciences. This search seeks applicants at the assistant associate or full professor rank to serve as a member of the Computer Science or Intelligent Systems Engineering Department. We seek candidates who can teach and lead cutting-edge research in AI including generative AI to bridge biomolecular datasuch as genomics and pharmaceutical mechanismswith clinical insights into disease and targeted interventions across areas such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. We encourage applications from scholars who apply interdisciplinary perspectives across a variety of domains and complement existing strengths within these departments in bioinformatics artificial intelligence and machine learning and expand cutting-edge initiatives including the recently launched B.S. in Robotics and IUBs targeted growth in bioengineering and pre-med pathways within Intelligent Systems Engineering directly translating theoretical AI into physical real-world solutions. This 10month appointment would ideally start August 1 2027 although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Responsibilities: Tenured/tenure-track faculty at Indiana University Bloomington are expected to substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of their department by developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio including pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding to conduct cutting-edge research both as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator; teaching and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students as designated by the department chairperson; and actively providing service within the department school and university alongside active engagement with the profession and/or the community. Areas of particular interest include but are not limited to: AI for Genomics and Systems Biology AI for Clinical Diagnosis and Personalized Medicine AI for Structural Biology and Drug Discovery Agentic AI for Life Sciences Research and Discovery Lab Automation and Bio-Instrumentation This position is located on the campus of Indiana University Bloomington ( IUB ) in Bloomington Indiana and the successful candidate is expected to work on the IUB campus to allow full engagement with the department school campus and community.
