Employment Type: FTC / FTE

Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Ontology Engineer to design and build the OntoSphere Knowledge Graph (KG) the canonical enterprise model integrating SOPIA ISO 20022 FIBO PROV-O and Client PayOps ontologies.
This is a critical front-loaded role with the highest impact during the initial phases (P0-P1) of ontology design and consensus building. The successful candidate will define ontology standards establish semantic relationships and create a scalable knowledge graph architecture that supports banking and payments operations. Following implementation the role transitions into consultation governance and maintenance activities during hyper-care and ongoing enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop enterprise-scale ontologies and semantic data models.
Build and maintain Knowledge Graph solutions using RDF OWL and graph databases.
Create ontology mappings and alignments across multiple banking and payments standards.
Develop and optimize SPARQL queries including federated query patterns.
Define SHACL constraints and validation frameworks to ensure ontology quality.
Collaborate with business stakeholders architects and SMEs to establish ontology consensus.
Model banking and payments concepts using standards such as FIBO and ISO 20022.
Implement ontology governance versioning and documentation practices.
Support reasoning inference provenance tracking and semantic interoperability initiatives.
Develop integration solutions using Python or Java-based semantic technologies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Systems Data Engineering or a related field.
4 years of experience working with Knowledge Graph technologies.
4 years of hands-on experience with RDF OWL and ontology modeling.
4 years of experience writing and optimizing SPARQL queries.
2 years of experience with SHACL constraint validation and shape design.
5 years of experience in Python or Java development.
Experience with ontology engineering methodologies and domain modeling.
Knowledge of banking ontologies such as FIBO ISO 20022 FRO or demonstrated ability to learn complex financial ontologies quickly.
