Are you interested in starting or changing to a rewarding career Join the UtahDepartment of Health & Human Services as an Office Specialist II of the Vital Records Administration. You will work with a dynamic group of like-minded professionals in a fast paced comfortable role goes beyond basic clerical tasks like filing and answering phones. It requires high-level administrative skills and significant attention to detail regarding policy and procedure.

The position involves issuing and amending vital records which requires advanced office skills and the ability to utilize complex systems. The successful candidate must be able to gather and apply pertinent rules regulations policies and procedures to individual customer interactions effectively. This is an in office 8-5 M-F position.

Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:

  • Performing basic accounting functions such as receiving and recording cash payments basic bookkeeping accounts payable/receivable.
  • Writing or drafting correspondence reports documents and/or other written materials.
  • Typing and preparing reports or other written materials from source documents transcription etc.

Qualifications

Minimum or day-one qualifications:

  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience using computers and office equipment.
  • Basic monetary/payment transaction experience.
  • An ability to source information and apply it to similar situations.

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:

  • Spanish/English bilingual skills.
  • More than 2 years experience with customer service.
  • Research/policy driven decision making skills.

  • Effective July 1 2021 State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date.
