Job Duties
The Department of Agriculture at Virginia State University seeks a highly organized collaborative and service-oriented professional to serve as the Office Manager and Administrative Operations Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Department Chair this position serves as the departments chief administrative professional and is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day administrative financial and operational functions of the department.
The Office Manager and Administrative Operations Coordinator is the operational hub of the department providing leadership and coordination for office administration business and financial operations faculty and student support grant administration communications events and departmental initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty staff students university administrative offices Cooperative Extension the Agricultural Research Station alumni and external partners to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the department in support of its teaching research extension and outreach missions.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience in office administration business operations or administrative coordination.
Experience managing budgets purchasing financial records or business operations.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Additional Considerations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates or Bachelors degree in Business Administration Office Administration Public Administration Higher Education or a related field.
Experience working in higher education government or a public-sector environment.
Experience managing multiple funding sources including state federal foundation and grant-funded accounts.
Experience supporting sponsored research or grant administration.
Experience with Banner Finance and Student systems or comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
Experience with Commonwealth of Virginia procurement and financial procedures.
Experience supporting executive leadership.
Experience coordinating meetings conferences and special events.
