Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills: Able to communicate well with all levels of customers. Acts in a professional manner in all situations (e.g. high stress conflict or new and unfamiliar situations). Works well under pressure to meet customers needs. Reacts quickly and responds appropriately.
- Organized approach to work and work area.
- Demonstrate a good work ethic and is dependable.
- Perform general office administration duties to include answering phones processing paperwork preparing and sending UPS packages ordering supplies and other similar duties.
- Calculates payment amount prepares and issues payment to commercial customers ACH customers and third party freight reconciliation.
- Quote metal prices within a range supplied by management and/or verify correct pricing.
- Assist with month-end closing documents and regular auditing of position related forms.
- Willing to cross-train in other positions and assists other employees as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Business Manager.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service and handling multiple projects.
- Minimum of 2-years previous experience working with cash retail accounting transportation and/or customer focus field preferred.
- Proven ability to work independently and with others and be part of a team.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication organization and time management skills.
- Ability to be flexible supportive and adaptive to changes in direction priorities and job duties.
- Computer experience including Microsoft Excel Word and the ability to learn in house systems.
- Experience in non-ferrous material grading preferred.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Flexible to work off hours weekends holidays in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work standing or walking for up to 10 hours per day.
