The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for all aspects of occupational therapy service delivery and is accountable for safety and effectiveness of the occupational therapy service delivery process. Occupational Therapy services can be provided for habilitation rehabilitation and promotion of health and wellness for clients with disabilities and non-disability related needs. Services promote acquisition and preservation of occupational identity for those who have or are at risk for developing an illness injury disease disorder condition impairment disability activity limitation or participation restriction. The OT will work with their client/family/caregivers to promote client participation in their everyday life occupations specific to their age context and life situation.

Responsibilities
- Evaluation: Complete occupational profile client history assessment of occupational performance that are incorporated into clinical decision making and establishment of an
individualized plan of care. - Intervention: Collaborating with the patient/family develops a treatment plan with individualized functional goals to promote participation in meaningful occupations that are inclusive of
emotional psychosocial cognitive and physical aspects of performance. Intentional selection implementation and modification of interventions specific to patient/client condition and progress including delegating and supervising support staff. May be performed in individual or group setting depending on specialty. - When needed refers the patient/client to other healthcare providers and facilities for services and testing to inform the occupational therapist plan of care.
Efficiently completes documentation and billing in accordance with regulatory standards and policies exhibiting an understanding of requirements and ethical practice. - Appropriate to the site of service the Occupational Therapist complies with the documentation requirements of different payers in terms of content frequency timeliness and authorization of services required for that treatment setting.
- Educates the patient family or caregivers regarding a condition disease or injury as related to occupational therapy scope of practice and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to the patient/family needs including age culture gender readiness to learn and level of comprehension.
- Participates in patient care conferences peer reviews or other care coordination discussions needed to align and/or optimize care.
- Assists and advises leadership in the development and implementation of quality services programs policies and procedures.
- Maintains competence in the administration of data collection tools used for assessment and quantifying progress and outcomes.
- Provides clinical supervision of Occupational Therapist Assistants Therapy Technicians and Students.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) or clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) for applicants graduating from accredited Occupational Therapy programs 2007 to present.
Credentials:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in state(s) of practice.
- Basic Life Support
American Heart Association - IA Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care.
- IA Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care
Knowledge & Skills:
- Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
Speaks reads writes and comprehends the English language fluently
Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office EMR etc.
Regulatory and Accreditation Compliance: Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA TJC
DNV OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
