Specialty:

LVPG OB/GYN is an enterprise of multiple practices across several counties in southeastern Pennsylvania that serves womens preventive gynecological and obstetric needs. Inpatient care is conducted at 2 Family Birth and Newborn Centers Cedar Crest (Allentown) and Muhlenberg (Bethlehem) hospital sites and 2 primary surgical locations at Muhlenberg and 17thStreet (Allentown) campuses.

Join a team of general ob/gyn physicians midwives ob/gyn hospitalists and maternal-fetal medicine specialists at our largest network maternity hospital. This campus supports over 3000 births annually and serves as a referral hospital for our 4 other network maternity hospitals and for other regional facilities outside our network. Our hospitalists serve as the primary teaching faculty for the ob/gyn residents and medical students and they work closely with our maternal fetal medicine physicians for management of high-risk patients. Newborn services include a Level IV NICU and access to our Lehigh Valley Reilly Childrens Hospital pediatricians including medical and surgical specialists. Limited hospital-based gynecology care may also be performed. Opportunities exist for participation in education clinical research quality and patient safety and healthcare administration.

Position Overview:

Gynecologic surgery

• Along with the Ob/Gyn Generalist team and other MIGS focused generalists responsible for providing gynecologic surgical services at all LVHN facilities (including Lehigh Pocono Schuylkill and Hazleton)

Gynecology-only office practice

• Perioperative care preventative gynecologic care and gynecologic problem visits- routine and complex problems

Core GYN inpatient coverage

• Along with the Ob/Gyn Generalist team this position is responsible for inpatient Gyn coverage and for back-up obstetric coverage to L&D units at LVHN hospitals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical and surgical management for complex benign gynecological disorders such as endometriosis fibroids and pelvic pain.
• Perform minimally invasive surgeries including laparoscopy hysteroscopy and robotic surgery with a focus on advanced techniques.
• Contribute to academic activities including didactic lectures curriculum development and simulation training for residents and medical students.
• Participate in potential surgical leadership and mentorship opportunities and support the growth and expansion of the MIGS division.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons from specialties such as general surgery colorectal surgery urology and plastic surgery utilizing minimally invasive techniques to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Board-certified ob/gyn
• Experience as an attending ob/gyn physician for at least 10 years preferred
• Demonstration of MIGS aptitude with completion of at least one of the following:
  • Successful completion of an AAGL-recognized fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery / Complex Benign Gynecology
  • Designation by ABOG as a MIGS-focused practice
  • Maintenance of privileges for GYN surgery including advanced robotic and/or laparoscopic procedures for 5 years within the past year.
• A case log with the applicants last 24-months of cases should be submitted with application. At least 100 minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries yearly should be included. Eligible cases include robotic laparoscopy hysteroscopic resectoscope and traditional advanced laparoscopic cases.
