How youll contribute
An OB Technicianwho excels in this role:
Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes solutions instruments equipment and supplies.
Assists with preparing transporting positioning and draping patients.
Provides equipment and supplies based on patient needs as well as anticipates needs of surgeon; passes instruments to physician during surgery.
Practices aseptic technique; follows correct procedure for scrubbing prior to case.
Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
Performs patient registrations; verifies patient graphics and insurance information.
Enters patient departmental and supply charges in computer system on all L&D patients prior to discharge as documented on Charge Sheets by the RN.
Provides clerical/secretarial support to department i.e. makes up/assembles charts ensures Physician order forms progress notes and other forms are on charts.
Places patient labels as needed breaks down discharge charts sorts and files records and maintains function of fax machine printers and copier.
Maintains established PAR levels and ensures appropriate supply and linen PAR levels are in OR suites and LDRs.
Notifies manager of low stock on special order items.
Checks supplies for outdated items and removes from stock.

What were looking for
Requirements include:
- Certifications: Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) American Hearth Association (AHA)
- Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health all units. - Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Graduate of a Program in Surgical Technology preferred.
