How youll contribute

An OB Technicianwho excels in this role:

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes solutions instruments equipment and supplies.

• 
  Assists with preparing transporting positioning and draping patients.

• 
  Provides equipment and supplies based on patient needs as well as anticipates needs of surgeon; passes instruments to physician during surgery.

• 
  Practices aseptic technique; follows correct procedure for scrubbing prior to case.
  Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.

• 
  Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.

• 
  Performs patient registrations; verifies patient graphics and insurance information.

• 
  Enters patient departmental and supply charges in computer system on all L&D patients prior to discharge as documented on Charge Sheets by the RN.

• 
  Provides clerical/secretarial support to department i.e. makes up/assembles charts ensures Physician order forms progress notes and other forms are on charts.

• 
  Places patient labels as needed breaks down discharge charts sorts and files records and maintains function of fax machine printers and copier.

• 
  Maintains established PAR levels and ensures appropriate supply and linen PAR levels are in OR suites and LDRs.

• 
  Notifies manager of low stock on special order items.

• 
  Checks supplies for outdated items and removes from stock.

What were looking for

Requirements include:

• Certifications: Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) American Hearth Association (AHA)
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holidays to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health all units.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Graduate of a Program in Surgical Technology preferred.
