Job Summary and Responsibilities
As ourSurgical Technologist/OB Tech you will helpour patients nursing staff and surgical teamsfacilitate safe and smooth surgical procedures and deliver exceptional patient care so they canexperience positive birth outcomes and recover comfortably.
Every day you willprovide direct and indirect patient care including setting up and assisting surgical teams during C-sections vaginal deliveries and circumcisions maintaining sterile fields and managing will be expected toassist with patient needs monitor vital signs document observations ensure patient comfort and safety maintain surgical equipment and supply inventories and collaborate seamlessly with RNs physicians and other team members while also engaging in professional development and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
To be successful in this role you must have knowledge of surgical instrumentation asepsis and medical terminology along with the ability to anticipate patient needs maintain sterile technique effectively assist surgical teams and demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered care and the well-being of obstetrical patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the admission discharge and transfer process of patients
- Set up tables instruments and supplies required for cesarean sections vaginal deliveries and circumcisions; maintaining sterile technique.
- Respond to patient calls anticipate their needs and assure their safety and comfort through regular rounds environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures
- Maintain appropriate stock and equipment inventories in the department and patient rooms
- Assist in the preparation and draping of the patient and operative area. Prepare pass and maintain a correct count of instruments sutures sponges and supplies utilized during the operative procedure
- Maintain surgical instruments by ensuring proper washing packaging sterilization and storage

Job Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program OR
- Completion of on-the-job training as a scrub tech with a minimum of 5 years experience OR
- Completion of an accredited medical personnel program (such as but not limited to CNA MA LPN EMT I/II or SPD tech) who are willing to do on-the-job training with a structured competency regimen
- BLS is required upon hire (acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include: American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers)
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist or OB Tech
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation
- Understanding of asepsis principles
- Familiarity with medical terminology
