    Position Purpose:Work as a team member with one or more Cooks Cooks Assistants and Dishwashers in providing meals that are nutritious and high quality. This position assists the Kitchen Manager demonstrates teamwork and show consideration for students needs and reasonable requests.

    Responsibilities:

    • Communicates collaborates and cooperates with colleagues supervisors and students.
    • Prepare various items as indicated by individual schools. Items that may be included are condiments salad bar items baking main entrees vegetables gravies sauces and soups. Items are prepared within time guidelines.
    • Set up the serving line and/or salad bar.
    • Load and unload transport boxes.
    • Clean sanitize and reload transport boxes with pans as ordered from delivery sheets.
    • Restock salad bar condiments juices flatware etc.
    • Assist in putting away deliveries.
    • Assist in putting food away and storing it properly; i.e. labeling and dating it.
    • Place orders for ice cream and milk.
    • Clean and sanitize work area throughout the shift as necessary and also before leaving. Extra cleaning duties may be assigned on a daily or weekly basis.
    • Help to train new employees with certain tasks.
    • Work as effectively and efficiently as possible.
    • Complete all tasks assigned by the Manager.
    • Complete additional duties as assigned.
    • Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Previous experience with large scale cooking and food preparation/serving.
    • Shows interest and enthusiasm in preparing and serving a nutritious meal of high quality.
    • Able to prepare food according to standardized recipes.
    • Requires basic math skills for accurate measuring and recipe conversion.
    • Must have the ability to stand and walk during entire shift; the ability to bend kneel stoop lift pull and reach for short periods of time.
    • Must follow safety and sanitation procedures; keep a neat and clean appearance; must have the knowledge of standardized work routines in 2-8 weeks.
