About the Role

The primary purpose of the Educational Specialist position is to function as an Educator Consultant

Researcher and Administrator in support in developing and expanding staff competencies to perform safely effectively and financially productive in a patient/family center Model of Care Delivery. The Education Specialist is a positive role model skilled communicator/facilitator and nonterritorial team player with solid teaching/learning skills. He/she is skilled at interfacing with broad and diverse groups in multidisciplinary forums facilitated to learn improve and innovate care delivery. The Education Specialist has extensive knowledge of adult learning techniques Evidence Based Practice/Practice Based Evidence Skills American Nurses Association Standards of Practice for Staff Development The Joint Commission Standards National Patient Safety Goals Department of Health Standards Policy and Procedures of patient/Family Centered Principles. He/she engenders confidence and trust and fosters collaborative/collegial relationships that generate high staff achievement and goals.

Responsibilities

What Youll Do

  • Develops implements and evaluates orientation and training programs for professional paraprofessional and clerical staff.
  • Assesses the need for designs implements and evaluates professional nursing staff development continuing education programs and to evaluate and inservice support staff as needed.
  • Assesses the need for designs and evaluates patient education programs.
  • Employs adult education teachinglearning strategies and evaluation programs.
  • Coordinates the implementation of nursing educational programs mandated by regulatory agencies on a regular basis.
  • Develops and interprets policies procedures and standards of practice in collaboration with nursing and institutionwide committees.
  • Conducts and participates in research and engages in quality improvement activities
  • Creates a forum for evidencebased practice.
  • Develops competencies according to policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Develops programs that will assist staff to gain certifications.
  • Supervises assigned paraprofessional and professional staff members employed within the Department of Patient Care Services.
  • Recommends the hiring firing promoting demoting merit increases transfers and/or disciplining of employees and other personnel changes.
  • Participates in nursing continuing education programs cosponsored by University Hospital and the School of Nursing.
Qualifications

What Youll Bring

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • Masters degree in nursing required.
  • Five (5) years of nursing practice experience required in which at least three (3) years of experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • BLS (CPR) required.
  • Preferred: Experience in staff development preferred.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

In compliance with New Jerseys Pay Transparency Act the salary range for this position is $114371 - $ 171556

University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position the candidates relevant work experience education and training key skills internal equity market data and organizational needs.
