Nursing Administrator-Nursing Administration-Full Time-Evening-Mount Sinai Queens

The Nursing Administrator is a registered professional nurse with progressive administrative experience leading hospital operations on assigned evening night weekend and holiday shifts. They support the CNO Nursing Directors Nurse Managers Assistant Nurse Managers and Hospital/site leadership in the management of clinical units/specialty areas fulfilling responsibilities for hospital and patient care services. Serving as the senior administrative representative for the organization during evening night weekend and holidays the Nursing Administrator ensures the safe efficient and effective delivery of patient care while promoting operational excellence regulatory compliance and exceptional patient and staff experience



Responsibilities

PATIENT CARE

nursing practice using the tenets of the Professional Practice Model of Relationship Centered Care and the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing for the promotion of the patient experience.
proficiency in all aspects of hourly Care Checks and role models expected behaviors.
the integration of hourly Care Checks into clinical activities to enhance Relationship Centered Care.
staff competency and provides consistent meaningful feedback with more focused feedback as needed.
rounding of patients on assigned shift.
quantitative and qualitative information regarding the patient experience and staff engagement to the staff and the interdisciplinary health care team that leads to the development and implementation of an action plan.
with the physician dyad and escalates concerns as appropriate.
up on all patient concerns in a timely manner and provides service recovery as needed.
caring respect compassion empathy and active listening through dialogue body language and actions.

PATIENT EXPERIENCE

models the tenets of Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care (MSHRCC) through facilitation of the following actions but not limited to: Admission Welcome Bedside Shift Report HELP AM/PM Care Dedicated Sit Down Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR) Medication Review Discharge Wrap Up and MD/RN Unit Collaboration.
with staff at the start of each shift identifying high-risk patients who require special attention.
to nursing leadership concerns or issues identified during huddle and throughout shift.
service recovery for patients and family members who have concerns and escalates to the Clinical Nurse Manager/Associate Director of Nursing or designee and Patient Relations as needed.
patient experience scores and benchmarks and keeps staff informed of progress and areas of opportunity.
the patients values preferences cultural diversity expressed needs and knowledge in all aspects of care.
staff to use evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients perceptions of care.
caring respect compassion empathy and active listening through dialogue body language and actions.

QUALITY AND SAFETY

supports and leads a safe therapeutic and efficient patient-centered care environment for professional practice.
and investigates issues or variances in practice/operations by participating in the RCA process and implements corrective action plans.
a fair and open culture that encourages error and near-miss occurrence reporting.
in interdisciplinary quality improvement teams using the principles of high reliability.
unit progress changes and compliance with quality and safety metrics with clinical nurses and other members of the healthcare team.
to escalations of potential safety hazards or gaps from best practice by correcting concerns following institutional chain of command protocol.
gaps in nursing documentation when applies.
staff participation in quality and safety initiatives and mandated compliance measures.
accountability for all unit quality and safety practices and compliance and ensures required evaluation of staff competencies is maintained.

OPERATIONS AND ADMINISTRATION

implementation of the mission vision goals and objectives of the department throughout the clinical service and individual patient care units.
administrative and clinical oversight to ensure that all activity (staffing support services inter disciplinary collaboration resources and financial viability) supports the goals of the organization.
collaboratively with physician dyads and the healthcare team to promote patient care and regulatory standards.
a nursing unit in compliance with all regulatory agency mandates including the regulations of NYS DOH and The Joint Commission.
patient care delivery throughput staffing and processes to ensure efficient and effective operations during assigned shift.
partnership with the Centralized Staffing Office the Nursing Administrator optimizes workforce assignments facilitates cross-coverage across clinical areas and ensures staffing decisions are aligned with organizational priorities evidence-based specialty practice patient acuity regulatory requirements and the individualized care needs of each patient.
input into the management and retention of qualified staff.
patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information.
nursing staff performance and mentors coaches counsels and disciplines staff as needed.
availability and maintenance of nursing equipment and supplies.
communication with staff about progress changes and compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
recognizes and rewards staff participation in quality and safety initiatives compliance and successes.
organizational change initiatives by using effective strategies.
a shared decision making model by establishing a structure of shared governance just culture and staff engagement in practice councils departmental meetings and initiatives.
and implements collective bargaining agreements affecting staff.
to protest of assignment in a timely manner as detailed in the collective bargaining agreement and discusses the resolution to the staff.
all information related to any protest of assignments to the nursing administrative location for data entry to support the Clinical Staffing Committee infrastructure.
to various hospital emergencies and escalates to appropriate leadership including the Administrator on Call (AOC) as necessary.
as incident commander during evening/night shifts and weekends/ holidays during an announced emergency management level of operations.

Qualifications

Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing required; Masters in nursing or health care related field preferred.

Experience Requirements
3-5 years minimum clinical nursing experience with some Charge Nurse/supervisory experience preferred. Must have relevant clinical competence in area of nursing practice assigned

Licensing and Certification Requirements
Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New York State.
Specialty Board Certification in a clinical specialty or leadership preferred

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $155000.00 - $165484.81 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including experience education and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
