Who This Role Is For

This position is designed for nursing students who have completed or are about to complete the Fundamentals of Nursing course.

Not in nursing school yet

Position Overview

Under the direction of an RN or LPN the Nurse Technician:

  • Assists with individualized patient care
  • Performs designated clinical and non-clinical support tasks
  • Works collaboratively as part of a care team
  • Supports patients in achieving their highest level of wellness

Training & Development

Our Patient Care Associate Training Program is an accredited U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program offering hands-on experience in a supportive healthcare environment.

  • 175-hour training program provided if no prior experience
  • Training completed during new hire orientation
  • Must be completed within 90 days of hire (per state guidelines)
  • BLS required within one month of hire
  • PCA competencies completed within 3 months

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED CNA/CPTC enrollment in a healthcare high school program or a current Mercy co-worker
  • Experience: None required
  • If enrolled in nursing school please list this on your resume or application

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to push pull and/or lift up to 50 lbs
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Ability to grip reach bend kneel twist and squat

Preferred Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
