Position Overview
Under the direction of an RN or LPN the Nurse Technician:
- Assists with individualized patient care
- Performs designated clinical and non-clinical support tasks
- Works collaboratively as part of a care team
- Supports patients in achieving their highest level of wellness
Training & Development
Our Patient Care Associate Training Program is an accredited U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program offering hands-on experience in a supportive healthcare environment.
- 175-hour training program provided if no prior experience
- Training completed during new hire orientation
- Must be completed within 90 days of hire (per state guidelines)
- BLS required within one month of hire
- PCA competencies completed within 3 months
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED CNA/CPTC enrollment in a healthcare high school program or a current Mercy co-worker
- Experience: None required
- If enrolled in nursing school please list this on your resume or application
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to push pull and/or lift up to 50 lbs
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Ability to grip reach bend kneel twist and squat
Preferred Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
