Under general direction the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides comprehensive primary healthcare services to the university community including performing womens health services. Responsibilities include conducting patient evaluations diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries prescribing medications within the scope of licensure and under the direction of a physician and promoting patient health through education and preventive care.
The salary isdeterminedin accordance withthe Universitys compensation structure and will becommensuratewith the candidates education and experience within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care including assessments evaluations counseling treatment and follow-up care.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
- Prescribe medications within the scope of Nurse Practitioner licensure and under the direction of a physician.
- Document patient assessments diagnoses treatment plans and follow-up care in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Maintain and monitor patient health records.
- Assess healthcare needs and provide patient education on disease prevention treatment plans and wellness.
- Interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging results including X-rays to support clinical decision-making.
- Collaborate with physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Participate on departmental and university committees deliver presentations and contribute to staff development and professional education initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Masters degree in nursing from an accredited program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) year of related clinical experience.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Knowledge of standard nursing procedures clinical practices and techniques.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
Registrations Certifications and Licenses:
- Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the State of Texas licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) and CPR certified.
