Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant II HIM Care Transitions Unit

Hospital Medicine APPs practice at thetop of their licensewith substantial autonomy and serve as core clinical leaders within interdisciplinary teams. Depending on assignment care is delivered through a combination ofinpersonand virtual workflowsfor medically complex adult patients.

• Inthe Care Transition Unit (CTU) APPs independently managehighvolumerapidturnoverpatients focusing on diagnostic clarityevidencebasedprotocolstimelydisposition and efficient movement between emergency observation and inpatient pathways.

Across assigned practice settings the Hospital Medicine NP/PA will:

• Admit transfer and manage hospitalized and observation patients
• Perform comprehensive histories physical examinations and daily clinical assessments
• Order interpret and act on diagnostic and therapeutic studies
• Formulate diagnoses and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
• Lead inpatient and observation care plans including escalation andde-escalationdecisions
• Coordinate care with consultants nursing and ancillary services
• Educate patients and caregivers and lead discharge planning
• Prescribe medications and perform minor procedures as indicated
• Ensureageappropriatepatientcentered andevidencebasedcare
• APPs arestronglyencouraged to engage inclinical innovation education quality improvement and research supporting MayoClinicsthree shields of practiceand enablinglong-termprofessional developmentand career satisfactionwithin Hospital Medicine.

Due to the complexity of our patient population a minimum of 2 years of prior NPPA experience is required

Nurse Practitioner:Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP ANP ACNP.

Physician Assistant:Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.

Additional Qualifications:

ActiveBLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Crossat start dateand DEA registration required.
