Job Summary
Job DescriptionThe Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients undergoing scans for diagnostic purposes. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will use the scanner to create images of various areas of the patient s body which will emit radiation from the drugs to indicate the presences of Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Epic AccessPreparing and administrating radiopharmaceuticals orally or by injection or the imaging procedure to patients answering questions and ensuring their comfort while placing them in the appropriate position for imaging equipment such as SPECT /CT images of the brain thyroid bone heart lungs kidneys and liver on the detailed records of the amount and type of radiopharmaceutical used and of the computer-generated images for interpretation by the safety procedures to protect staff and patients from unnecessary radiation current knowledge of the frequent advances innovations and developments in the duties as consistent with this RequirementsJob Knowledge and SkillsOperating equipment and ensuring the safety of all medical staff and patients from unnecessary radiation technical and computer skillsAttention to communication and interpersonal skillsStrong critical thinking and analytical and ExperienceNH license and certification to practice nuclear medicine requiredBasic Cardiac Life Support certification required1 year experience preferredAn equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience Conditions/Physical DemandsMust possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting standing walking bending stooping and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
