ReNuke Services is seeking a Nuclear Electrical Design Engineer SME for our clients site in York SC!
DESCRIPTION:
Design Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership in the design analysis modification testing and implementation of electrical power systems and power equipment. This position leads complex engineering projects involving transformers switchgear circuit breakers protective relays motor control centers generators and electrical distribution systems. The engineer serves as a technical authority ensuring compliance with applicable codes standards licensing requirements and engineering processes while supporting safe reliable and efficient system performance. The role includes developing design inputs modification packages calculations specifications testing requirements and design basis documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop engineering design packages calculations specifications and drawings for power system modifications and upgrades.
Perform electrical system studies including:

oLoad flow analysis
oShort-circuit analysis
oProtective device coordination
oArc flash evaluations
oVoltage drop analysis
Evaluate and specify power equipment including:
*
oTransformers
oSwitchgear
oCircuit breakers
oProtective relays
oMotor control centers
oVariable frequency drives
oGenerators and auxiliary power equipment
Prepare technical specifications and procurement documents for new equipment and modifications.
Develop design inputs and perform technical evaluations to ensure compliance with design basis requirements.
Coordinate with project managers operations maintenance and vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) site acceptance testing (SAT) commissioning and post-modification testing activities.
Conduct design reviews technical verifications and engineering change evaluations.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including IEEE ANSI NEC NFPA NESC and company engineering procedures.
Maintain configuration control and update drawings calculations and equipment databases following design changes.

Reviewing/producing are: Engineering Change (EC) Basedocs Equipment Database records Electrical Elementary Diagrams Connection Diagrams Wiretabs Bill of Materials and Cable Cards.
Mentor less experienced engineers providing technical guidance and coaching.
Power system analysis and modeling
Protective relay coordination
Transformer sizing and application
Switchgear and circuit breaker specification
Cable ampacity and routing calculations
Grounding system design
Electrical equipment troubleshooting
Technical report and specification development
Risk assessment and engineering change implementation
Desired qualifications include:
Knowledge of the Standard Design Process.
Duke Energy qualifications for the following: Preparation of Engineering Changes (CO-FLT-ENG-2000 Design Change) Digital EC (FLT-ENG-DIGITAL-EC) Design Verification (CO-FLT-ENG-2050 Design Verification) Applicability Determination Preparer (CO-FLT-AD) and 50.59 Screener (CO-FLT-50.59-SCR).
Experience at a Nuclear Site.
Experience with Duke Energy.
Experience in Switchyard / Transmission related ECs
Professional Engineer (PE) License.
Experience with power system software such as ETAP SKM or PowerWorld.
Experience with transformer switchgear relay or generator design and application.
Nuclear utility renewable energy or large industrial plant experience.
Knowledge of electrical equipment commissioning and testing practices.
Familiarity with engineering change and configuration management processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
