Nucor Steel Birmingham is seeking a Metallurgist interested in taking on a technical role based upon the needs of the plant and the candidates experience. Job functions could range from process/product metallurgy product/process improvements or problem-solving projects throughout the facility. Other functions may include providing training to teammates metallurgical assistance to technical service representatives and customers and continuous improvement of the melt shop process. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US Nucor Steel Birmingham Inc. will not sponsor the need for a visa now nor in the future.
BS degree in Metallurgy Material Science or a related engineering discipline or equivalent melt shop experience.
- Experience in relevant production and steelmaking processes.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Track record of applying metallurgical concepts in a team-driven environment.
- 5 years of melt shop process experience
