Position SummaryThe Learning Academy Teacher is responsible for supporting students in the LearningAcademy and collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure high-quality student centeredinstruction. This includes daily Resource support assessing student progress andfostering an environment that supports both academic and personal growth. LearningAcademy Teachers also play a vital role in supporting the mission and values of theschool including its Catholic identity and promoting a positive inclusive and respectfullearning Learning Academy Teacher will also be asked to teach one section of a subject specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesLearning Academy Teacher SpecificsShadow assigned students in mainstream classes faithful implementation of student accommodation with classroom teachers to ensure effective support of assigned student progress and concerns regularly to and regularly meet with Director of Academic in annual parent meetings for assigned academic and social-emotional support for students daily in a resource Instruction and Curriculum Delivery:Plan prepare and deliver lessons that meet the academic standards and learning objectives for the subject students with a syllabus and instruction that is engaging differentiated and adapted to the diverse learning styles and needs of technology and other resources into lessons to enhance student engagement and a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking intellectual curiosity and student understanding through formative and summative assessments providing feedback that supports student Management:Create and maintain a positive disciplined and respectful classroom environment where all students feel safe and clear behavioral expectations and use consistent methods to address discipline and manage classroom student engagement and participation by encouraging respect collaboration and attendance in each class and report absences to the lesson plans for class coverage when Support and Development:Support the academic and personal development of each student providing guidance encouragementand constructive with students and communicate with parents regularly to discuss academic progress concerns andstrategies for improvement. Provide regular opportunities for after-school consultation with students who may need additional support and work with counselors Learning Center staff orother resources to ensure academic comprehensive exams or approved summative projects in all subject areas at the end of eachsemester. Time must be devoted for review in class and review materials shall be provided to homework regularly keeping in mind that each student is expected to have an appropriateamount of homework based upon academic assignments & post student grades electronically in a timely manner. Gradebooks should containsufficient entries to give parents a clear idea of a students in all school-day community activities and school-sponsored extracurricular activities suchas clubs sports or student organizations to contribute to student in on-line learning days as designated by the Principal by posting and grading and Communication:Collaborate with colleagues to develop and align curriculum share best practices and support studentlearning across and actively participate in department meetings faculty meetings professional developmentsessions Back to School Night parent conferences and Open accurate and up-to-date student records including grades attendance and behavior Development and Growth:Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills subjectknowledge and understanding of current educational trends. Teachers must complete at least one outsidePD opportunity current with best practices in education instructional strategies and technology out and implement feedback from colleagues and administrators to improve Mission and Catholic Identity:Integrate Catholic teachings and values into the classroom promoting the spiritual ethical and moraldevelopment of in the spiritual life of the school including Masses retreats and prayer services the overall mission of Notre Dame Prep fostering a learning environment that is inclusiverespectful and dedicated to the growth of each duties as assignedKnowledge Skills Abilities & Other AttributesBachelors degree in Education or in specific subject area being taught (e.g. English History Mathematics Science etc.). Focus in Special Education and Masters degree teaching certification or licensure required (state or subject-specific certification where applicable).At least 1-3 years of teaching experience at the high school level preferred but not knowledge of the subject matter and the ability to communicate it clearly to classroom management techniques and the ability to maintain a positive learning in using educational technology to enhance communication skills with students parents and to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse for teaching and fostering student growth academically socially and organizational and time management skills to effectively plan and deliver lessons and assess student to work collaboratively with other teachers staff and administrators.A commitment to fostering a Catholic environment of respect faith and service within the school to professional growth and continuous improvement in teaching practices.A positive and enthusiastic approach to engaging students in the classroom and in Working ConditionsOccasional evening or weekend work for school events meetings teacher conferencesOpen House Baccalaureate Mass graduation and extracurricular in field trips retreats and other school functions may require time outside ofregular school be flexible to collaborate with teachers of various disciplines and students of varying ability are to arrive in their classrooms 20 minutes before the beginning of the school day and are to be available for a minimum of 30 minutes at the end of the school day for student consultation. The workday may extend beyond 3:00 pm for occasional professional possible report absences to the appropriate personnel by 6:00 am.
