NineStar Connect Network Engineer I

As a community-minded cooperative were looking for a skilled and motivated Network Engineer I to help maintain and advance our carrier-grade network infrastructure. 

As a Network Engineer I youll play a key role in supporting and enhancing NineStars core service provider network. Youll work with advanced networking technologies provide Tier III support and help ensure the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure serving our members and customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure maintain and upgrade core service provider network devices
• Support and maintain public-facing network services including DNS DHCP and network monitoring tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues escalated from Network Operations
• Maintain accurate network documentation and diagrams
• Research test and implement emerging service provider technologies
• Provide technical training and support to NineStar employees
• Collaborate across departments to deliver reliable high-quality network services
• Participate in an on-call rotation and support critical network operations as needed

Qualifications :

Technical Knowledge

Experience with:

• Carrier-grade networking environments
• Internet services and networking protocols
• Cisco networking technologies including IOS IOS-XE and IOS-XR
• OSPF BGP and MPLS
• Linux-based network services such as DHCP DNS and TACACS
• Network security best practices and advanced troubleshooting techniques

Skills & Abilities

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to design implement and troubleshoot complex network solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Calm and effective decision-making during high-pressure situations
• Passion for learning and evaluating new technologies

Education & Experience

You must have one of the following:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field with 25 years of networking experience OR
• Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field with 57 years of networking experience

CCNA certification is preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold a CCNA will be expected to obtain the certification within six months of hire.
