RN: Med Surg Night Shift Position: RN: Med Surg Department: Med Surg Location: Pagosa Springs Medical Center Shift: Night Shift Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts per week Hours: 36 hours/week Employment Type: Traveler / Contract Pagosa Springs Medical Center is seeking an experienced RN: Med Surg Traveler for night shift coverage. This role provides observation and inpatient nursing care to patients assigned to the Med Surg Unit including assessment monitoring medication administration physician order follow-through patient education documentation and coordination of care. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working independently on night shift managing patient care priorities responding appropriately to changes in condition and maintaining safe accurate documentation in Cerner. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of Med Surg or Emergency Room experience required. Previous traveler experience required. Cerner EHR/EMR experience required. Graduate of an accredited RN program required. Current Colorado RN license or ability to obtain required licensure in good standing. Current AHA BLS certification required. Current ACLS certification required or completion at next available course within 3 months. Current PALS certification required or completion at next available course within 3 months. Basic computer skills and electronic health record experience required. Primary Responsibilities Include: Provide direct observation and inpatient nursing care within the RN scope of practice. Assess and monitor patient clinical status including respiratory cardiovascular neurological gastrointestinal genitourinary pain comfort skin integrity and mental status needs. Identify changes in patient condition and notify the appropriate provider. Administer medications IV therapy blood products and other ordered treatments safely and accurately. Complete required Cerner documentation including assessments nursing tasks care plans patient education and treatments. Coordinate care using SBAR and approved handoff procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring and take appropriate action based on rhythm interpretation. Maintain patient safety confidentiality infection prevention practices and professional standards throughout the shift.
