Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract assignment in the Neuro Medical-Surgical Unit at a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital in Morgantown WV. This position offers the opportunity to care for adult patients with a wide range of neurological disorders and neurosurgical conditions in a nationally recognized academic medical center dedicated to exceptional patient care education and innovation.
The ideal candidate is a compassionate detail-oriented nurse with strong assessment skills and experience caring for patients with complex neurological conditions.
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions.
Perform thorough patient assessments including frequent neurological evaluations and monitoring for changes in condition.
Develop implement and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
Administer medications IV therapies and other prescribed treatments safely and accurately.
Monitor patients recovering from neurosurgical procedures stroke seizures traumatic brain injuries spinal conditions and other neurological illnesses.
Recognize and respond promptly to changes in neurological status and other medical emergencies.
Collaborate with neurologists neurosurgeons physicians therapists case managers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses medications rehabilitation and discharge planning.
Accurately document assessments interventions and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Adhere to hospital policies infection prevention standards and patient safety protocols.
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state.
Candidates do not need a West Virginia RN license in hand at the time of application. Licensure may be obtained prior to the start of the assignment if required by the facility.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current BLS Certification required.
Current ACLS Certification required.
Minimum of 2 years of recent Neuro Medical-Surgical Telemetry Stepdown or Acute Care nursing experience preferred.
Previous experience in a Level I Trauma Center or Teaching Hospital is highly preferred.
Strong neurological assessment critical thinking communication and organizational skills.
Ability to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
This is a contract position at a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital.
Local candidates will not be considered.
Applicants must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this assignment.
Must meet all facility credentialing and onboarding requirements prior to the start of the assignment.

Required Education:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state.A West Virginia RN license is not required at the time of application. Candidates may apply without a WV license in hand and obtain licensure prior to the start of the assignment if required by the of an accredited nursing BLS Certification ACLS Certification of 2 years of recent experience
