Job Summary
This is a remote position.
We are seeking a hands-on Network / Systems Engineer to design configure implement troubleshoot and validate network and Microsoft 365 infrastructure projects for our clients.
This role is responsible for turning approved technical designs and project scopes into reliable production environments. Projects may include network infrastructure refreshes firewall and switch deployments UniFi implementations wireless deployments VLAN segmentation VPN configuration Microsoft 365 migrations multifactor authentication cloud migrations and infrastructure cutovers.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working both independently and directly with clients and can take ownership of technical implementation from pre-staging through final validation and documentation.
- Design and implement LAN/WAN infrastructure according to approved project requirements.
- Configure and deploy next-generation firewalls managed switches wireless access points controllers VPN solutions and related network equipment.
- Configure VLANs Layer 3 interfaces DHCP relay routing firewall policies WAN failover monitoring and network segmentation.
- Configure corporate guest voice wireless-management security server and other required network segments.
- Configure and manage UniFi Network Controller environments and UniFi switching and wireless infrastructure.
- Configure LACP VLAN trunks port profiles PoE spanning-tree loop protection DHCP trust and related switching functions.
- Implement and validate SSL VPN and remote-access solutions.
- Configure SNMP monitoring and integrate infrastructure into remote-management platforms.
- Perform wireless deployments RF configuration SSID configuration client isolation roaming validation and wireless performance testing.
- Support Microsoft 365 tenant configuration and migration projects.
- Configure migration tooling source/target connections service accounts application consent and identity mappings.
- Support Exchange Online OneDrive SharePoint Teams and file-server migration activities.
- Configure and validate Microsoft 365 domains DNS records mail flow SPF DKIM and DMARC.
- Implement Microsoft 365 Conditional Access and multifactor authentication configurations.
- Assist with Microsoft Authenticator enrollment and user validation.
- Perform migration reconciliation exception analysis and post-migration validation.
- Pre-stage equipment firmware configurations and migration environments before production changes.
- Perform network and infrastructure cutovers during approved maintenance windows.
- Gracefully decommission and replace legacy infrastructure.
- Validate connectivity routing authentication applications wireless voice backups monitoring and other in-scope services after implementation.
- Troubleshoot issues encountered during implementation and determine whether they fall within the approved scope.
- Support rollback procedures when required.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams IP inventories VLAN documentation switch port maps wireless information configuration records and equipment inventories.
- Document migration results exceptions validation results and final configurations.
- Archive relevant legacy configurations and document replaced equipment.
- Prepare technical handoff information for the support team.
- Demonstrated professional experience in network or systems engineering.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP VLANs routing switching DHCP DNS and network troubleshooting.
- Experience configuring managed network switches and firewalls.
- Experience with wireless networking and access-point deployments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues independently.
- Experience performing production cutovers and maintenance-window work.
- Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
- Ability to work directly with clients and communicate technical issues clearly.
- Ability to follow defined project scopes implementation plans and change-control procedures.
- Experience with Ubiquiti UniFi networking equipment and UniFi Network Controller.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Exchange Online SharePoint OneDrive Teams and Microsoft Entra.
- Experience with Conditional Access and MFA.
- Experience with network monitoring and SNMP.
- Experience with cloud-to-cloud and file-server migrations.
- Experience with VPN technologies and WAN failover.
- Experience with wireless heatmap surveys and RF optimization.
- Experience supporting low-voltage/network infrastructure deployments.
- Relevant networking or Microsoft certifications.
Required Skills:
Required Qualifications Previous experience in IT field services low-voltage installation telecommunications networking or a related technical field Valid drivers license Reliable transportation to travel to customer and job sites Own basic hand tools required for field service work Ability to pass a background check Ability to pass drug testing Basic understanding of computer networking and troubleshooting Familiarity with Ethernet and structured cabling Ability to work independently with limited supervision Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Professional communication and customer-service skills Ability to lift and move equipment as required Comfortable working in different customer environments and job-site conditions Preferred Qualifications Experience with Cat5e/Cat6 cabling Experience terminating RJ45 connectors and keystone jacks Experience with network switches routers and wireless access points Experience with POS systems access control cameras or other low-voltage systems IT certifications such as CompTIA A Network or similar Previous field service or data center experience
