Network Specialist

Wilkes University is pleased to announce an opening for a Network Specialist in the Information Technology Services Department. This position supports the Universitys technology infrastructure by ensuring reliable secure and high-performing network services that meet the academic administrative and operational needs of the campus community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for Wi-Fi optimization and troubleshooting; configuring firewalls routing and switching to maximize network security and efficiency; monitoring network performance and identifying potential bottlenecks or security threats; supporting network connectivity and user authentication; documenting network configurations and changes; and overseeing troubleshooting updates and upgrades of network devices. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical knowledge problem-solving abilities and the ability to work collaboratively within a cohesive team environment.

A bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science Engineering or a related field (or equivalent work experience) is preferred along with at least three years of directly related experience. The ideal candidate will have experience with LAN/WAN environments Cisco-based networks Aruba wireless and switching systems Fortinet Firewalls Windows and Linux enterprise server management Active Directory and enterprise network security practices. Higher education experience is preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
