Position Overview
The Colorado Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a Network Security Administrator to provide specialized network and cybersecurity administration support for various state agencies. This role focuses on maintaining secure compliant and modern network infrastructures through firewall administration hardware lifecycle management security compliance initiatives and operational support.
The selected consultant will function as a full-time team member supporting daily security operations infrastructure modernization efforts and agency compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Security Operations & Administration
- Review and execute Firewall Service Requests (FSRs).
- Manage break-fix incidents and troubleshooting activities.
- Process and implement formal change requests.
- Provide ongoing network security administration support.
- Participate in security incident response activities.
Infrastructure Modernization
- Support recurring hardware refresh initiatives.
- Assist with decommissioning End-of-Life (EOL) infrastructure.
- Ensure seamless migration and replacement of security hardware.
Compliance & Security Controls
- Implement security configurations and controls.
- Ensure compliance with:
- IRS Security Standards
- FBI Security Requirements
- Criminal Justice Information (CJI) Compliance Standards
- Maintain secure and compliant network environments.
Firewall Administration
- Configure manage and troubleshoot:
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- Cisco ASA Firewalls
- Manage firewall rules policies NAT configurations and VPN connectivity.
- Support threat prevention and network security initiatives.

Required Qualifications
- Experience administering Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Experience configuring and supporting Cisco ASA Firewalls.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and security principles.
- Experience supporting firewall service requests and change management processes.
- Knowledge of security compliance frameworks and best practices.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting government or public-sector environments.
- Experience with infrastructure modernization and hardware refresh projects.
- Familiarity with IRS FBI and CJI security compliance standards.

- Strong troubleshooting and incident response skills.
Work Location
- Candidates must be local to Colorado or willing to relocate/commute.
- Preference will be given to candidates currently residing in Colorado.
Position Summary
The Network Security Administrator will provide operational support for enterprise firewall environments cybersecurity compliance initiatives hardware refresh projects and network security operations across Colorado state agencies. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise with Palo Alto and Cisco ASA firewalls strong networking fundamentals and the ability to support both routine operations and emergency response activities in a mission-critical environment.
